The future of transport is connected, digital and eco-sustainable.
Technologies have been ready for years and now they must be extended to all transport sectors. With an increasingly visible need of safeguarding the environment, thanks to the collaboration with relevant partners and thanks to a strong experience in the sector, Steda Services has contributed to develop the intermodality project both on the national territory and abroad inside companies which, in the past, have always and only used road transport.
Using the binomial ferry-train and decreasing the road distance to be done by trailer, these companies have changed their operating system favoring eco-sustainability and creating value.
The eco-sustainability is an opportunity and not a compromise, it is an economic vision that Steda Services has married and wants to bring it inside the companies to make them acquire value also taking advantage from incentives being available for those who have decided to embark on this path.
In the past, the factors which have made intermodality less competitive – costs, slowness, complexity – can now be resolved with smart digital solutions which give the possibility of tracing and locating the goods and other digital procedures which facilitate the effective management of the multimodal transport flow.
In fact, in the combined transport, modalities train-ferry ( for long routes ) and trailer (for the traction at the departure and on arrival) can be optimally combined by offering integrated trip solutions to move goods in more agile and convenient way, in a word, in a smarter way.
While, in the world, blockchain systems are taking place, which, on paper, allow to have an almost faultless supply chain control, in Italy there is still a long way to go. But, the future, passes right through the digitization of projects which, till now, were man-made.
